About the Role
The Carpenter 3 role involves performing complex carpentry tasks in concrete and finish carpentry on a variety of projects, including new construction and renovations. The position may also supervise a crew within the carpenter scope of work and must align with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. Additional duties cover concrete carpentry specialties such as rebar placement, advanced formwork, PT accessories, and flatwork finishing, as well as finish carpentry specialties like casework, countertops, trim, and door installations. The carpenter leads by example, trains the team, reads project plans, completes reports and pre‑task planning, forecasts materials, and coordinates safety procedures with the foreman. • Perform complex concrete and finish carpentry tasks on new construction and renovation projects. • Set and finish concrete forms, place concrete, and maintain tools and equipment. • Install framing, blocking, safety railings, doors, hardware, and temporary partitions. • Supervise and train crew members, providing guidance and ensuring high-quality workmanship. • Read and interpret project plans, complete pre‑task planning and JE Dunn reports. • Forecast materials, coordinate safety procedures, and liaise with foremen. • Apply advanced formwork, rebar placement, and concrete flatwork techniques. • Execute high-quality casework, countertops, trim, and wood panel installations. • Maintain PPE compliance and adhere to OSHA and JE Dunn safety standards.

What You Bring
Core responsibilities include knowledge of concrete and hand tools, basic layout and construction math, setting and finishing concrete forms, placing concrete, maintaining tools, framing, installing blocking, safety railings, temporary partitions, doors, and ensuring PPE compliance with OSHA and JE Dunn safety standards. Key knowledge, skills, and abilities include accurate and timely work performance, effective verbal and written communication, mastery of all carpentry and concrete tools, basic layout and math principles, minimal guidance, excellent customer service, and the ability to build collaborative relationships. Education requirements are a high school diploma or GED, with apprenticeship or vocational training preferred; equivalent experience is also considered. Candidates need at least five years of trade experience and preferably five years of commercial construction experience. The role demands physical ability to lift at least 50 lb, work in extreme temperatures, non‑traditional hours, and confined or elevated spaces, with reliable transportation and possible respirator use.
