About the Role

The Class C Lineman is an entry‑level position responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role involves work at various locations and may require travel to other states based on customer demands. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead distribution systems. • String overhead wire, set poles and anchors, and install components such as transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Replace fuses, clear faulted circuits, and assist with single‑phase transformer hook‑up. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good condition. • Follow safety procedures while working with high‑voltage systems and using proper PPE. • Identify primary/secondary voltage, induced voltage, and material types; tie lineman knots and use hand lines and Kellum grips.

What You Bring

The lineman works safely on both energized and de‑energized overhead lines, performing tasks such as stringing wire, setting poles and anchors, and assisting with the installation of transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. They also replace transformer fuses, clear faulted circuits, and ensure all related work is completed to finish the job. Candidates need 1–2 years of experience, the ability to perform rigorous physical labor, and knowledge of primary and secondary voltage, induced voltage, and grounding procedures. Proficiency in climbing structures, working at heights or in confined spaces, tying lineman knots, using hand lines, and correctly handling PPE is required, along with a Commercial Driver’s License (preferred) and the ability to lift more than 50 lb. The position demands regular standing, walking, reaching, and the use of hands, as well as communication while exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may involve extreme environments at construction sites. • Meet physical requirements: lift >50 lb, climb structures, work at heights and in confined spaces, and endure inclement weather. • Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (preferred) and be able to travel long distances on short notice.
