About the Role
• Organize and schedule estimate preparation, leading meetings and assigning tasks. • Produce complete, reliable estimates, incorporating all project data and adjusting assignments as needed. • Develop trade partner strategies, issue bid invitations, and obtain BIM documents. • Conduct quantity surveys, assess site logistics, and apply cost history to scope and pricing. • Ensure estimates meet margin goals, prepare margin plans, and present bids to owners. • Provide cost modeling, value analysis, and target‑value delivery; support design teams with cost studies. • Supervise preparation of self‑performed work scopes with accurate pricing. • Build and maintain relationships with operations staff, design partners, trade partners, and owners. • Participate in group estimating meetings, share industry knowledge, and coach junior estimators.

Mortenson is hiring a MEP Estimator III – Electrical to lead estimating efforts for multiple projects, including support for large projects. The position is hybrid and must be based in one of the regional offices: Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, or Seattle. The role requires a degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with at least six years of construction experience. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, proficient with building and estimating software, BIM, and cost‑history tools, and capable of leading estimator teams and handling self‑performed estimates.
