About the Role
The Senior Controls Technician (Truck Based) delivers preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, and commissioning of HVAC control systems while ensuring high customer satisfaction and mentoring junior technicians. This role operates with minimal supervision and maintains thorough project and service documentation. Key duties include troubleshooting complex electronic and digital control issues, creating field proposals for retrofits and upgrades, and supporting sales with technical recommendations. The technician manages work efficiently, coordinates with managers and subcontractors, and upholds safety standards on all job sites. • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems on truck‑based assignments. • Diagnose and resolve complex electronic and digital control system malfunctions across multiple software languages. • Prepare field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements; provide technical recommendations to assist sales. • Mentor and train controls, service, and mechanical technicians, including certification support. • Produce design deliverables such as flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics. • Manage material procurement, track deliveries, and coordinate factory‑mounting and on‑site commissioning activities. • Deliver on‑site training, manuals, and documentation to customers; ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. • Lead safety initiatives, enforce Johnson Controls and customer safety standards, and provide safety instruction to subcontractors. • Maintain comprehensive job documentation including certificates of completion, training forms, and punch lists. • Perform self‑study and obtain required certifications to stay current with product lines.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least four years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, a vocational or associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience, and strong communication and writing skills. Knowledge of control theory, building automation systems, and the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences are essential. • Required: Minimum four years of commercial HVAC controls troubleshooting experience. • Required: Vocational school graduate or associate’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience. • Required: Proficiency in control theory, automatic temperature controls, and building automation subsystems.
