CDL Truck Driver Commercial

About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial Drivers handle container pick‑up, often maneuvering loads over 1,000 lb and navigating high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, requiring skilled backing. Residential Drivers collect household waste in residential settings, while Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and move large open‑top or compactor containers, sometimes working in tight overhead industrial environments. All driver roles demand precise backing maneuvers and safe vehicle operation. • Operate vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). • Report unsafe situations or service‑related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Attend all required training programs, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices. • Notify the Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. • Alert Operations Manager or Dispatch to service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out process. • Perform duties as scheduled and assist other drivers to meet customer needs.

What You Bring

Travel by air or access to federal property may be required; therefore candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative, or be willing to obtain one. • Required qualifications: minimum 1 year operating a CDL‑required vehicle or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years; at least 18 years old; legal eligibility to work in the country; Class A CDL with air‑brake endorsement or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement. • Preferred qualification: high school diploma or GED. • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
