About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join the Quality team as part of the Programme Quality Engineer structure. The role ensures that contractual quality requirements for products or services are understood, captured, and flowed down through the business to meet regulatory, contractual and customer expectations. It also supports assigned programme activities related to quality. Key activities include engaging with partners to align quality objectives, leading investigations of customer complaints, and working with suppliers to guarantee quality standards are met. Where required, the Engineer will manage non-conformance through corporate methods, conduct compliance audits, and monitor day-to-day operations to ensure contractual deliverables are achieved. The position is based in Bristol and may involve domestic and international travel as programme needs dictate. The Quality Engineer will act as the focal point for assessing and capturing quality-related contractual requirements, creating and maintaining quality plans and compliance matrices. Responsibilities also cover managing quality relationships with internal and external stakeholders, deputising for the Quality Executive, and supporting internal and external audit programmes as lead or support auditor. Additional duties include leading improvement projects, maintaining Rolls-Royce Management System processes, and conducting root-cause investigations of customer escapes. • Capture and flow down contractual quality requirements via quality plans and compliance matrices. • Engage partners and suppliers to align quality objectives and ensure standards are met. • Lead and support investigations of customer complaints and non-conformances. • Conduct and support internal and external audits and compliance reviews. • Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to contractual deliverables. • Perform root cause analysis (5-whys, RCA, 8D) and drive improvement projects using quality tools. • Maintain and improve Rolls-Royce Management System (RRMS) processes. • Support defence programme quality activities and act as deputy for the Quality Executive. • Facilitate meetings, presentations and reporting on quality issues.

Primary contacts include the Quality Executive, Commercial Manager, Programme Manager, customer representatives, OE and MRO managers, and other contract-specific stakeholders. The role requires a self-starter with strong stakeholder management, problem-solving expertise (5-whys, RCA, 8D), and knowledge of Green Belt and process improvement methodologies. Candidates should hold auditor or lead auditor credentials, possess extensive regulatory and international quality standards knowledge, and be proficient with Microsoft Office, visualisation tools such as Tableau or PowerBI, SAP, and the Rolls-Royce Management System.
