About the Role
The role of Principal Technical Professional – Mechanical Handling involves independently performing all mechanical handling activities for detailed engineering projects on FPSOs and offshore platforms. The incumbent plans, schedules, and conducts work that requires independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. They provide technical guidance to designers and less‑experienced engineers. Global travel for short‑term assignments to KBR or client offices and project sites is expected. Responsibilities include preparing mechanical handling study reports, delivering presentations, and participating in model review sessions to address handling queries. The engineer recommends improvements to achieve the most efficient and cost‑effective handling procedures. Proficiency with 3‑D review software such as S3D, Aveva, and NAVIS Simulate is required to interface with designers and implement handling requirements. Management of project‑budgeted hours and resources for mechanical handling equipment, deck cranes, static and rotating equipment, and package/skid items is also expected. • Perform all mechanical handling activities for detailed engineering projects on FPSOs and offshore platforms. • Plan, schedule, and execute work using independent engineering judgment. • Provide technical guidance to designers and junior engineers. • Prepare mechanical handling study reports and deliver presentations. • Participate in model review sessions and address material handling queries. • Recommend cost‑effective handling procedures and improvements. • Utilize 3D review software (S3D, Aveva, NAVIS Simulate) for handling design. • Interface with stakeholders and 3D designers to implement handling requirements. • Manage project‑budgeted hours and resources for mechanical handling packages.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a mechanical or allied engineering degree with at least ten years of relevant experience, typically 12‑15 years. Experience includes handling concepts for equipment and packages in FPSO/offshore facilities and knowledge of handling equipment capabilities. Strong problem‑solving abilities across disciplines and proficiency in reviewing package drawings for handling aspects are required. Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills are essential. • Possess a minimum of 10 years of mechanical or allied engineering experience (12‑15 years typical). • Experience with handling equipment, deck cranes, static/rotating equipment, and package/skid items. • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving, presentation, and communication skills. • Willingness to travel globally for short‑term assignments.
