About the Role

The Farm Manager will contribute to creating the Discovery Land Company experience for members and employees. The role includes managing daily plant maintenance, landscaping, farm animal care, equipment repairs, and safety reporting, as well as developing improvement programs to enhance farm ambiance. The manager will coordinate harvesting schedules with Food and Beverage, Culinary, and Member Services, monitor harvest yields, collaborate on new offerings and farm events, and maintain inventory of supplies. Member interaction involves showcasing the farm areas, responding promptly to requests, and leading or assisting in member and family activities. Staff responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising farm staff, enforcing health and safety standards, and providing consulting to other Discovery Land projects. • Oversee daily maintenance of plants, vegetables, fruits, and flowers, including planting, weeding, mulching, watering, and harvesting • Manage seeding schedule for all fruits and vegetables, applying local best practices and crop rotation timing • Manage landscaping within the farm perimeter: mowing, weeding, pruning, irrigating, and pasture management • Provide care for farm animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning pens/cages • Schedule repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery • Report safety or maintenance concerns immediately to the GM and Executive Chef • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of work area throughout the day • Develop continual improvement programs to upgrade farm ambiance and overall look • Oversee operation and maintenance of small garden tools and machinery such as tractors and tillers • Ensure seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked • Collaborate with executive leadership to prepare budgets and financial reports • Communicate harvesting schedules to Food & Beverage, Culinary, and Member Services departments • Monitor harvest weights and quantities for reporting to the Executive Chef • Work with garden and culinary teams to create and execute new offerings, farm dinners, and activities • Stock and restock items as needed • Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary • Showcase farm, barn, and garden areas to members, guests, and prospects, highlighting offerings and benefits • Respond promptly and courteously to all member requests • Instruct and participate in member activities, teaching and assisting with family events on the farm • Hire, train, direct, and supervise farm staff • Ensure all staff adheres to health and safety regulations • Complete daily set‑up and breakdown of department activities, monitor team productivity • Provide consulting services to other Discovery Land Company projects as requested

What You Bring

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field, five to ten years of farm management experience, knowledge of greenhouse and hydroponic systems, food safety practices, and the ability to operate and maintain farm equipment and tractors. Candidates should possess basic diesel and gas engine mechanics knowledge, a strong sustainability focus, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role requires a positive attitude, flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, teamwork, composure during busy periods, fluency in English (additional languages a plus), and the physical ability to work outdoors for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds. • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field • 5‑10 years of farm management experience • Strong understanding of greenhouse and hydroponic systems and farming practices • Experience with food safety practices and management • Ability to operate farm equipment and full‑size tractors • Basic diesel and gas engine mechanical knowledge • Ability to repair and maintain outbuildings • Strong motivation for sustainability • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred • Ability to meet physical demands, including working outdoors in all weather, standing, walking, and lifting items over 50 pounds
