About the Role
The Senior Archaeologist – Northern Ontario will guide community growth while honoring historic and cultural landscapes. Working within WSP’s Ontario Archaeology Team, you will lead assessments, advise clients and project teams, and strengthen relationships with Indigenous partners. Your work will support responsible development, heritage stewardship, and culturally informed project planning across the province. • Lead archaeological assessments in northern Ontario per MCM standards. • Manage full project lifecycle: scope, field strategy, reporting, and regulatory submissions. • Serve as Project Manager overseeing scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client communication. • Provide health, safety, and risk leadership on field and office sites. • Conduct senior technical reviews of archaeological reports to meet MCM and WSP standards. • Coordinate logistics, staffing, and resources with the Field Operations Lead. • Mentor staff and foster a collaborative learning culture. • Support business development via proposals, relationship building, and strategic insight. • Engage respectfully with Indigenous Nations, regulators, and clients. • Analyze and interpret archaeological data within northern Ontario contexts. • Independently manage large, complex projects under tight deadlines. • Anticipate project needs, secure resources, and drive organizational improvements. • Design scopes, methodologies, and budgets for projects of varying size and complexity. • Shape communities to advance humanity with a purpose-driven mission.

What You Bring
• Hold a professional licence with MCM for archaeological fieldwork in Ontario. • Possess 10+ years consulting archaeology experience, including 5+ years leading northern Ontario projects. • Demonstrate expert knowledge of Ontario archaeology and current MCM standards, guidelines, and bulletins. • Exhibit strong leadership and mentoring abilities. • Understand project financial management principles. • Obtain Provincial and Federal Security Clearance as required. • Maintain a valid Canadian driver’s licence meeting WSP policy. • Advanced knowledge of historical or Indigenous material culture specific to northern Ontario (preferred). • Experience with archaeological requirements on federal lands (preferred). • Membership in the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) (preferred).

Benefits
Compensation ranges from $99,900 to $146,500 depending on location, experience and other factors, with final salary determined by education, qualifications, certifications and business needs. Salary ranges may be adjusted for business reasons.
