About the Role
The engineer will interact daily with field sales personnel, providing technical guidance on application and installation of chiller equipment, generating special quotations, and supporting order execution with Order Management and Contract Engineering. Responsibilities include developing tools and documentation, automating common inquiry processes, responding to product detail requests, and assisting sales teams in resolving equipment, job, and code challenges. The role also involves communicating with design engineers and product management, obtaining supplier quotations, participating in product team meetings, delivering sales training, and mentoring other Application Engineers, Product Marketing staff, Sales Engineers, and Sales Agents. • Provide pre‑sale technical support and product application guidance for chiller solutions. • Generate special quotations and obtain supplier pricing and lead‑times. • Assist field sales, design engineers, and product management in resolving equipment and code issues. • Develop tools, documentation, and automated processes to streamline inquiries. • Deliver on‑site and remote sales training and mentor other Application Engineers. • Participate in product team meetings to identify business development opportunities.

What You Bring
Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Application Engineer for the Applied Equipment Engineering team, preferably based in New Freedom, PA, or San Antonio, TX. The role supports chiller product sales through HVAC System Branches and export market sales/marketing personnel, having a strong impact on the Chiller Solutions business. Candidates not within commuting distance must be open to relocation. Required qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least three years of HVAC industry experience, preferably with chiller technology. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of refrigeration system principles and be prepared for up to 10% travel for factory, customer, and field visits related to training and support. • Travel up to 10% for factory, customer, and field visits. • Require B.S. in Electrical Engineering and ≥3 years HVAC/chiller experience.
