About the Role
The Technical Writer will create content for a business unit that supports program releases, working under the guidance of senior team members. The role involves close collaboration with engineers, developers, product managers and marketing teams worldwide, producing DITA XML documentation, technical illustrations, and providing DocOps support. The position also offers the chance to support one of Johnson Controls’ process teams. • Create and maintain DITA XML documentation for program releases. • Collaborate with engineers, developers, product managers, and marketing teams globally. • Produce technical illustrations using Photoshop or Illustrator. • Provide DocOps support, including content management and publishing workflows. • Support process teams within the organization. • Plan workload and multitask effectively.

What You Bring
Candidates should be able to work from the Cork office three days per week and hold a degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communications, Languages, Engineering, Multimedia or a related science. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to plan workloads and multitask, and proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator for technical illustration are required. Desired experience includes topic-based writing in DITA XML, document control in a CMS or version-control system, and familiarity with scripting languages, APIs, or SQL. • Hold a degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communications, Engineering, Multimedia, or related field. • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proficient with Photoshop and Illustrator for technical illustration. • Experience with topic-based writing and DITA XML preferred. • Familiarity with CMS or version-control systems for document revision. • Knowledge of scripting languages, APIs, or SQL is a plus.
