About the Role
The Senior ITS/Traffic Engineer role is based in New Jersey with hybrid work options in Bloomfield, Piscataway, or New York City, requiring travel for client and team meetings. The position involves leading innovative transportation solutions, producing design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for complex projects, and collaborating closely with project managers. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing advanced traffic engineering and intelligent transportation system projects that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency across networks. • Lead planning, design, and deployment of ITS, traffic signal systems, and connected‑vehicle technologies. • Conduct traffic engineering studies such as signal optimization, corridor analysis, and congestion management. • Design traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and intersection improvements to NJTA, NJDOT, and MUTCD standards. • Integrate ITS hardware/software, traffic management centers, and emerging technologies. • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for projects. • Coordinate with NJDOT, NJTA, MPOs, and local municipalities on regional transportation initiatives. • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. • Ensure compliance with MUTCD, NTCIP, AASHTO, and related regulations.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, or related engineering and possess at least six years of relevant experience, with proficiency in traffic analysis tools and CAD software. Preferred qualifications include eight‑plus years of expertise, an NJ PE license, and strong knowledge of industry standards and local regulations. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 6 years of traffic modeling or signal design experience. • Proficient in Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, CAD, and/or MicroStation; valid US driver’s license. • Preferred: 8+ years traffic engineering/ITS experience, NJ PE license, PTOE, and advanced MicroStation skills. • Experienced in developing traffic control, detour, and transportation management plans. • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
