About the Role
• Support project managers and field leads in wetland, wildlife, bat, avian, and botanical surveys. • Perform office tasks such as data clean‑up and reporting for Natural Resources and Environmental Planning teams. • Conduct fieldwork across Texas and neighboring states, including extended hikes independently or with colleagues. • Follow SWCA safety program and promptly address hazards. • Field work may require 50‑75 % travel, walking long hours in inclement weather, and carrying equipment up to 40 lb.

What You Bring
• Currently enrolled junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s in an environmental field, or recent graduate (within 12 months of May 1 2026); master’s students considered; PhD candidates not eligible. • Experience with natural‑resources fieldwork through coursework, projects, internships, or volunteer work. • Ability to mobilize for two‑week field deployments and attend agency, stakeholder, and client meetings. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. • Willingness to learn new survey and monitoring techniques and adapt to changing schedules. • Ability to work safely outdoors in all weather conditions and integrate SWCA safety policies. • Helpful skills: identify native plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians; use GPS, digital data collection, ArcGIS; technical writing experience.

Benefits
The internship runs from early June to mid‑August 2026, with flexibility for early starters or extensions, and includes regular presentations by SWCA leaders.
