About the Role

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development and improvements, make system and component design decisions, and guide cross‑functional IPT technical decisions. They will lead problem‑solving efforts across design, inspection, manufacturing, and testing, and manage multiple simultaneous projects, establishing and overseeing objectives, budgets, and schedules. The engineer will serve as the primary technical liaison between Mechanical Engineering and internal/external customers, create and review engineering drawings, test procedures, reports, and design review material, and present findings to customers and management. They will ensure product standardization, support continuous improvement, and lead RCCA investigations and failure analyses. • Design and analyze new products and improvements. • Decide system/component designs and guide IPT technical decisions. • Lead problem‑solving for design, inspection, manufacturing, and testing issues. • Manage multiple projects, meeting budget and schedule targets. • Act as primary technical liaison with internal and external customers. • Create/review engineering drawings, test procedures, reports, and review materials. • Present design data, analysis, and recommendations to stakeholders. • Ensure product standardization and compliance with engineering processes. • Drive continuous improvement through standard process development. • Lead cross‑functional RCCA investigations and failure analyses.

What You Bring

We are looking for a positive, creative, self‑starter to fill our Lead Mechanical Engineering role. The position operates in a supportive environment focused on continuous improvement, teamwork, cooperation, respect, and integrity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, technical writing, presentation, and leadership skills, with a visible customer presence. The role requires multitasking and prioritizing in a rapidly changing environment. Candidates must hold a BS in Engineering or Industrial Technology, have at least five years of manufacturing engineering experience and two years leading teams or projects, and reside within 70 mi of Davenport, IA (with certain exemptions). The role requires U.S. person status for export‑controlled information and experience with DFM, SPC, GD&T, PFMEA, RCCA, design of experiments, KPI goals, union environments, various standards (AS9100, ISO9100, etc.), ERP/MRP systems, and CAD/CNC/PLC tools. • Hold a BS in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace. • Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience; 2 years leading teams/projects. • Reside within 70 mi of Davenport, IA (military/exemptions apply). • Must be a U.S. person for export‑controlled information. • Skilled in DFM, SPC, GD&T, PFMEA, process mapping, RCCA, DOE, ANOVA, Gage R&R. • Experienced with union environments, KPI goals, and diverse manufacturing processes. • Knowledgeable of AS9100, ISO9100, SAE, MIL‑STD, Nadcap, IPC J‑STD standards. • Proficient in ERP/MRP/CRP (SAP, Oracle) and CAD/CNC/PLC tools (Creo, CATIA).
