About the Role
The role is for a power systems engineer who will lead the implementation and development of first‑of‑its‑kind power flow studies for bulk and distribution system analysis of our distributed residential batteries grid operations. The engineer will design and conduct studies at distribution and combined distribution‑transmission service levels for aggregated distributed energy resources and their participation in power balance mechanisms. This position collaborates across internal operations, business development teams, and external utility stakeholders, becoming the internal subject‑matter expert on distribution system design, dispatch, and control. • Collect power flow study requirements for Base battery aggregation use‑cases (transient stability, steady‑state, contingency analyses) • Select appropriate power flow study tools for each use‑case, including distribution system design and joint distribution‑transmission modeling • Design and deploy programmatic power flow models for recurring execution • Compile and present study results to internal and external stakeholders • Advocate for standards amendments through participation in standards committees and technical meetings (e.g., IEEE PES GM)

What You Bring
• Deep experience with power flow modeling tools and solvers for transmission (e.g., PSS/E, PowerWorld) and distribution (e.g., CYME, GridLab‑D) • Proficient in data analysis and visualization using Python; familiarity with PyPSA is a plus • Knowledge of IEEE standard test feeder topologies • Experience with tools and methods for horizontally scaling compute‑intensive power flow studies • Practical experience with bulk transmission system interconnection processes (preferred)
