About the Role
As a Field Designer you will develop HVAC control system hardware designs and software programming within established guidelines to meet project requirements. You will produce detailed submittals and communicate system design and operation to customers, consultants, installation teams, and subcontractors. The role requires using the standard design library to create flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics, as well as coordinating drawings and equipment schedules for installation. You will also select, order, and track materials, assist with loading and commissioning controllers, and validate system functionality through troubleshooting. • Use the standard design library to generate flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics. • Perform software programming based on established standards. • Coordinate creation of drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. • Select, order, and track delivery of materials, coordinating factory‑mounting to meet schedules. • Assist in loading, commissioning, and validating system and network‑level controllers. • Troubleshoot system functionality with subcontractors and other trades. • Gather field changes, produce as‑built drawings, and update software. • Communicate proactively with management and contractors to ensure timely, high‑quality work. • Prepare operation manuals, conduct site‑specific customer training, and complete required paperwork. • Adhere to Johnson Controls and customer safety standards at all times.

What You Bring
Success in this position depends on strategic thinking, strong communication skills, ownership of issues, and the ability to multitask while maintaining high organizational standards and customer focus. Candidates must hold a university degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and have at least three years of experience installing or commissioning control systems, along with advanced drafting and technical aptitude. • Hold a university degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of three years installing/commissioning control systems. • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude in mechanical, electrical, and control systems. • Possess advanced computer skills, especially with computer‑based drafting tools.
