About the Role

In this role, the AE adds shareholder value by using a consultative retention approach for larger or more complex Small/Medium Business Waste Management customers. The AE develops and implements retention strategies, negotiates contracts, and seeks revenue growth from existing accounts, ensuring alignment with WM’s commercial goals. Key duties include serving as the primary contact for assigned accounts, building long‑lasting relationships, and aligning WM products with customer needs while complying with local, state, and federal regulations. The AE negotiates, renews, and updates service agreements, resolves escalations with the Inside Sales Manager, and collaborates with the sales team to identify growth opportunities within the territory. Accurate use of Salesforce and pricing tools, as well as regular reporting and administrative tasks, are also required. • Prospect new B2B accounts and retain existing customers in the South Atlantic region. • Conduct consultative selling to match Waste Management solutions with regulatory requirements. • Negotiate, renew, and update service agreements to maximize profitability. • Resolve customer escalations in partnership with the Inside Sales Manager. • Utilize Salesforce and pricing tools for accurate sales tracking and reporting. • Achieve retention targets and drive revenue growth within an assigned book of business.

What You Bring

The Account Executive (AE) is an inside sales role that can be performed from home, supporting the South Atlantic market. It is a hybrid hunter/farmer position responsible for acquiring new B2B customers and retaining existing accounts. Candidates must be comfortable cold‑calling, prospecting, and managing a book of business. External applicants must reside in NC, SC, or GA, while internal candidates may also be based in Tupelo, MS, or Phoenix, AZ. Qualifications require U.S. residency, a high school diploma or GED, and either one year of WM experience or five years of B2B account management. Essential skills include relationship building, goal setting, time management, high‑impact communication, planning, organization, negotiation, and financial acumen.
