About the Role

The Project Specialist I – Security and Life Safety will lead the technical execution of fire alarm and special systems projects, from database programming and system commissioning through troubleshooting and final turnover. Leveraging 3–5 years of industry experience and a Texas TOPS security alarm and access‑control license, the specialist serves as the on‑site technical anchor, supports field personnel, ensures code compliance, and collaborates closely with sales and design teams to deliver high‑quality life‑safety solutions. • Develop and program controls or special‑systems databases, graphics, and sequences per design specifications. • Perform start‑up and commissioning, conducting point‑to‑point checkout to verify alarms, annunciations, and device actions. • Support installation crews on‑site and provide technical assistance to other contractors. • Debug static and dynamic issues during system start‑up and commissioning. • Assist Bosch and third‑party contractors in resolving building‑operation problems beyond control systems. • Contribute to accurate estimation, design, installation, start‑up, commissioning, and training for building systems. • Generate start‑up documentation such as daily logs, checkout logs, and commissioning reports. • Create timely software backups for project and development environments. • Deliver service support for existing installations, ensuring compliance with occupancy codes and efficient operation. • Maintain accurate timesheets, work orders, and required paperwork. • Prepare as‑built drawings and Operation & Maintenance manuals. • Transition projects from Operations to Service teams. • Support sales during estimating, including product demonstrations and site surveys. • Work in clean, well‑lit, ventilated offices with low‑to‑moderate noise levels. • Drive to customer locations as part of duties.

What You Bring

• Minimum high school diploma or GED. • 3–5 years experience in fire alarm or security & life‑safety industry, including point‑to‑point testing of fire alarm control panels. • Hands‑on experience with system installations, commissioning, or field technical support. • Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and local fire codes. • Current Texas TOPS Security Alarm and Access Control licenses. • Preferred: 5 years progressive fire‑alarm or life‑safety experience with system integrations. • Preferred: 3+ years programming special systems (Notifier, Bosch, Edwards) and creating custom database sequences. • Preferred: 3+ years assisting sales/design on 5–10 project estimates, site surveys, and product demos. • Preferred: Experience integrating fire‑alarm with HVAC smoke dampers, elevator recall, or mass‑notification systems. • Preferred: 1–2 years leading small teams or training junior personnel/sub‑contractors. • Preferred: NICET Level II or higher, or certifications in Genetec, Lenel, Avigilon, SoftwareHouse, or Bosch. • Must communicate effectively in English (read, write, speak, listen). • Manual dexterity for occasional reaching, lifting light objects, and operating office equipment. • Ability to sit, stand, walk in office and construction sites; lift up to 50 lb and work at heights over 1.8 m (6 ft). • Required on‑site presence with customers or contractors; travel to job sites, including limited overnight trips.
