About the Role

The Senior Civil Engineer – Quality Control is responsible for ensuring construction projects meet all technical specifications, regulatory requirements and quality standards. The role involves comprehensive inspection, testing oversight, documentation and technical guidance throughout the construction lifecycle. Key responsibilities span quality assurance and control, technical leadership, documentation and reporting, and project support. This includes reviewing drawings, conducting field inspections of civil works, monitoring code and safety compliance, overseeing materials testing, guiding junior engineers, investigating non‑conformances, maintaining inspection records and coordinating QC activities with project schedules. • Review and approve construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals. • Conduct field inspections of foundations, concrete structures, roadways, utilities, and drainage systems. • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. • Oversee materials testing and coordinate with third‑party laboratories. • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and inspection staff; review QC plans and checklists. • Investigate and resolve non‑conformances; liaise with contractors, consultants, and regulators. • Maintain inspection records, prepare reports, non‑conformance notices, and corrective action plans. • Track quality metrics and produce regular status reports for project closeout. • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and align QC activities with project schedule. • Mentor junior staff and deliver technical training sessions.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, and 7‑10 years of civil engineering experience with a strong focus on quality control. Candidates should be familiar with construction materials, methods and industry standards such as ACI, ASTM and AASHTO, and have experience with inspection techniques, testing procedures and quality management systems. Preferred qualifications are a Master’s degree, prior experience in construction management or consulting, and certifications in quality management (CQE, CQA). Familiarity with BIM software and digital inspection tools is a plus. Core competencies include strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, proficiency in AutoCAD and project‑management tools, and the ability to lead and mentor junior staff. • Hold a PE license and 7‑10 years of civil engineering experience with a QC focus. • Strong knowledge of ACI, ASTM, AASHTO standards and quality management systems. • Preferred: Master's degree, CQE/CQA certification, BIM and digital inspection tool experience. • Demonstrated analytical, communication, leadership, and multitasking skills; proficient in AutoCAD and project‑management software.
