About the Role

The Controls Engineer will design, document, and program building automation systems (BAS) in compliance with project plans and specifications, while maintaining proactive communication with stakeholders about technical risks and opportunities. The role also includes mentoring less experienced Application Engineers and supporting the sales process with accurate technical proposals. Key duties span system design, control strategy development, commissioning, project support, and leadership. The engineer must ensure compliance with company standards, customer specifications, and safety regulations while fostering a culture of ethical conduct. • Design complete building automation systems, including controllers, sensors, networks, and hardware. • Prepare submittal packages and final documentation reflecting project changes. • Develop and program sequences of operation, control algorithms, and user interfaces using WebCTRL and Eikon. • Perform functional testing and factory witness tests for complex systems such as chiller plants. • Provide technical support during sales, create RFIs, and communicate project risks and opportunities. • Mentor less‑experienced Controls Engineers and uphold safety and ethical standards. • Interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans to deliver compliant designs. • Create clear RFIs and convey technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. • Provide troubleshooting expertise in Automated Logic hardware, peripherals, and enterprise IP networks. • Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and travel up to 20% of the time.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of BAS/HVAC controls experience, or a high‑school diploma with ten years of equivalent experience. Candidates must have five years of experience with BAS software tools and three years with third‑party communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LON. Preferred qualifications emphasize a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building systems, the ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans, and expertise in Automated Logic software and enterprise IP networks. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and be willing to travel up to 20 % of the time. Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders or lift equipment over eight feet high and lift items up to 50 lb, as well as a valid government‑issued ID for site access. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years BAS/HVAC controls experience, or a High School diploma with 10+ years experience. • Demonstrate 5+ years of BAS software proficiency (e.g., Johnson Controls, Trane, Siemens) and 3+ years with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LON. • Proficient in Microsoft Visio (or similar CAD tools) and Microsoft Office Suite. • Meet physical requirements: climb ladders >8 ft and lift up to 50 lb.
