About the Role
In this position, the Senior Superintendent manages overall construction activities, assigns tasks, and interfaces with other departments to ensure required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule. They collaborate with Project Managers on budgeting, forecasting, and managing labor, equipment, and consumables, while reviewing construction documents for completeness and constructability. The Superintendent also creates and updates project schedules, three‑week look‑ahead plans, and coordinates plans and specifications with engineers to resolve discrepancies. Leadership duties include developing site utilization plans, determining crew sizes, selecting formwork systems, and conducting pre‑construction planning sessions and site meetings. They oversee work crews, coach and mentor field personnel, foster a teamwork environment, ensure crews have necessary resources, provide work direction, conduct performance evaluations, and participate in hiring and dismissal decisions. What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent I who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, staying flexible, resourceful, proactive, and professional while maintaining confidentiality. The role requires anticipating problems, identifying critical issues, and creatively solving them with viable solutions. The Senior Superintendent will coordinate project site work activities and supervise on‑site teams for multiple construction projects or large, complex projects. Qualifications include an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or at least ten years of trade experience, along with a minimum of fifteen years of construction experience and ten years in a supervisory role. Experience with solar or large industrial power projects, strong detail orientation, basic knowledge of construction law, intermediate Microsoft Office skills, a professional attitude, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel up to 100% are required. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil/Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience • Minimum 15 years construction experience, including 10 years in a supervisory role • Experience with solar or large industrial power projects • Strong detail orientation and ability to manage multiple project tasks • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and professional attitude • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%
