Design and analyze structural systems for micro modular reactors, ensuring safety & compliance.
Job Highlights
About the Role
You will play a critical role in translating conceptual designs into engineered, manufacturable structures that meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements—helping to pioneer scalable clean energy systems built for resilience and global deployment. The Structural Engineer will lead the structural design, analysis, and verification of Hadron Energy’s micro modular reactor systems, enclosures, and supporting infrastructure. This individual will work closely with mechanical, thermal, and civil engineers to ensure structural integrity under normal, seismic, and extreme loading conditions. • Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and manufacturing teams to ensure structures are optimized for assembly, transportability, and modular production • Support prototype testing, validation, and design modifications as part of the development cycle • Support the selection and qualification of structural materials for high-temperature and radiation environments • Design and analyze structural systems for reactor modules, enclosures, transport frames, and balance-of-plant components • Coordinate with external vendors, fabricators, and inspectors to verify design intent and quality standards • Conduct seismic, wind, and load analyses in accordance with applicable building codes and nuclear safety requirements • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate structural integrity, stresses, fatigue, and thermal effects • Prepare design documentation and reports for internal reviews and regulatory submissions • Contribute to design reviews, safety evaluations, and multidisciplinary integration meetings • Develop and review structural drawings, calculations, and material specifications in compliance with ASME, AISC, and NRC standards
