About the Role

The Estimator role is responsible for maximizing profitable contract awards by leading estimating and bid administration activities. The incumbent works closely with sales, design, and project‑management teams to deliver accurate cost proposals, respond to RFPs, attend client meetings, support installations, and manage project close‑out. • Prepare cost budgets from drawings, specifications, and related materials. • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and PMO to develop labor, logistics, and BOM estimates. • Analyze proposals, blueprints, and specifications to determine labor, material, and time requirements. • Compute and communicate cost analyses for labor, material, and schedule. • Engage subcontractors to supplement expertise and deliver complete solutions. • Secure best pricing from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors. • Maintain technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking. • Coordinate bid proposal development with all stakeholders.

What You Bring

The position is primarily office‑based, requiring clear verbal and written communication, occasional light manual handling, and regular use of computer, keyboard, and phone in a clean, well‑lit, low‑to‑moderate noise environment. • Minimum 3 years design experience in IT and integrated security systems. • Strong understanding of physical security and IT industries, including related products and trends. • Knowledge of IP networks, low‑voltage electronics, power, and communications. • Ability to create/edit design drawings, spreadsheets, program sheets, and handover documentation. • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. • Highly developed analytical and problem‑solving abilities. • Self‑motivated with initiative to research new technologies and engineering/business concepts. • Proven estimator experience in low‑voltage industry with complex projects (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, IP networks, etc.). • Experience estimating projects of $250K–$500K+. • Familiarity with access control, CCTV, intrusion, network switching, RTLS, PLC, structured cabling, and door hardware platforms. • Technical sales or system design background considered an asset. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mac OS, and quoting/project software. • Post‑secondary education in electronics/electrical or equivalent advantageous. • Strong organization and attention to detail. • Communicate clearly (see, hear, speak, write) and perform occasional light manual tasks. • Primarily a desk job using computer, keyboard, and phone. • Office environment clean, well‑lit, ventilated, with low to moderate noise levels.
