About the Role
Bridge Tenders at Velociti Services operate and tend bridges, canal locks, and lighthouses on inland waterways, ensuring safe marine passage. The position may include supervisory duties and covers drawbridge operators, lock tenders, and slip‑bridge operators. Effective performance depends on a strong commitment to the guest experience, respect for teammates, and the ability to interpret FDOT and U.S. Coast Guard manuals. Duties include maintaining accurate logs, communicating on VHF marine radio, and managing bridge stations to monitor boat traffic. • Operate drawbridges, locks, and lighthouses to enable safe marine passage. • Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and report incidents immediately. • Provide safe openings for marine traffic and ensure secure passage for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. • Keep accurate, legible logs and submit maintenance work requisitions per FDOT procedures. • Communicate effectively in English via VHF marine radio and protect maintenance personnel. • Prioritize tasks, delegate when appropriate, and maintain a clean, orderly workspace.

What You Bring

Employees must promptly inform supervisors of incidents, malfunctions, or accidents and safeguard maintenance personnel. The ideal candidate possesses a high school diploma or GED, is at least 18 years old, holds a valid driver’s license, and demonstrates strong communication, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills. Physical capabilities include lifting up to 50 lb, occasional climbing on ladders rated for 300 lb, and maintaining auditory and visual acuity. • Meet physical requirements such as lifting up to 50 lb, climbing 300 lb‑rated ladders, and performing frequent stooping, bending, and climbing. • Hold a high school diploma/GED, be 18 or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate strong problem‑solving and customer‑service skills.
