About the Role

As a project engineer, you’ll support the entire construction project lifecycle from pre‑ to post‑construction. • Collaborate with project manager and superintendent to build according to plan and specifications • Contribute to estimating efforts: take‑offs, coordinate sub bids, materials pricing • Maintain positive relationships and clear communication with clients, partners, designers, field team, and subcontractors • Read and manage plans, specifications, contracts, purchase orders, shop drawings, submittals, lien releases, RFI logs, and other project documents • Issue RFPs and distribute plans and contract documents • Create scope of work for subs and vendors for RFPs and Subcontractor Agreements • Conduct subcontractor site walk‑throughs to review plans and specs prior to pricing • Assess subcontractor proposals: review, negotiate, summarize • Write and manage Subcontractor Agreements ensuring all necessary elements are present • Maintain punch list with architect and build team • Receive, review, and code applications for payment with project manager • Partner with project manager to ensure payment is received from owner and paid to subcontractors • Maintain owner’s manual (product information, warranties, as‑built drawings) and handle project close‑out requirements • Work with superintendent to maintain job site quality control • Advocate for safety in action and attitude; reinforce awareness to reduce risk of injury or citations

What You Bring

We’re hiring a senior project engineer with at least 3 years of professional construction experience to work closely with the superintendent and project manager on estimating, scheduling, subcontractor buy‑out, and project documentation. Senior project engineers understand design intent and apply field mechanics to collaborate effectively with the project team, architects, vendors, subs, suppliers, and consultants. This dynamic, creative role is often site‑based to ensure projects are executed with the highest quality and craftsmanship. To be successful as a Dowbuilt project engineer, you’ll need a blend of experience, education, and technical skills. • 3+ years of construction management experience, high‑end residential preferred • Construction Management degree or equivalent education plus experience • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications • Excellent communication, team‑building skills and attention to detail • Knowledge of technical construction terms and experience with traditional and new materials • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, BlueBeam • Familiarity with web‑based applications such as Slack, Asana, SmartSheet, and Airtable (highly preferred) • Sage 300 CRE familiarity (preferred, not required) • US work authorization
