About the Role

This role leads the Embedded Controls team for the Utility Controls product portfolio within the Power Reliability Division, covering voltage regulator, overhead recloser, and capacitor bank products for the North American market. The products deliver advanced distribution automation, protection, and communication solutions for utility customers, and the leader is responsible for guiding the embedded firmware and hardware team through end‑to‑end product development. The leader works with global engineering and product leadership to define and shape strategy for new controls product development, driving on‑time, cost‑effective, and high‑quality execution of various NPI programs. Responsibilities include end‑to‑end talent management, establishing a progressive work culture, and fostering continuous capability development through upskilling, reskilling, and hiring. Functional leadership is provided through detailed design and code reviews, enforcing rigor in the software development lifecycle, agile program execution, and accelerating adoption of model‑based development and DevOps. The role trains, motivates, and evaluates engineers, conducts performance reviews, recruits talent, and monitors project progress while delivering regular development and support reports. The leader builds strong rapport with global stakeholders, acts as liaison for customer requirements, and partners with platform teams to drive rapid adoption, reuse, and alignment of schedules. Urgency is established for priority issues, ensuring high‑quality documentation such as release notes and user guides, while defining digitalization strategies in collaboration with COE and Digital organizations. • Lead the Embedded Controls team, overseeing firmware and hardware development for utility products. • Define and shape strategy for new controls products with global engineering and product leadership. • Drive on‑time, cost‑effective execution of NPI programs across the division. • Manage talent end‑to‑end: recruit, upskill, reskill, and foster a progressive work culture. • Provide functional leadership through design and code reviews, enforcing SDLC rigor and agile practices. • Accelerate adoption of model‑based development and DevSecOps within the team. • Train, motivate, and evaluate engineers, conducting regular performance reviews. • Monitor project progress, generate development and support reports, and resolve technical issues. • Build strong relationships with global stakeholders and act as liaison for customer requirements. • Partner with platform teams to accelerate reuse and platforming initiatives. • Ensure fast turnaround for priority issues with comprehensive documentation (release notes, user guides). • Define digitalization strategy aligned with competitor landscape and collaborate with COE and Digital groups. • Collaborate across EIIC and global groups to enhance execution efficiency.

What You Bring

Qualifications include a B.E. or M.Tech in Electronics, Computer Science, or IT, with 14+ years of overall experience (including 4+ years in management and 10 years of hands‑on embedded product development). Required skills encompass embedded architectures (bare‑metal, Linux, RTOS), cybersecurity, communication protocols, model‑based development, DevSecOps, software design principles, technology trend analysis, proven people leadership, cost management, KPI definition, and strong communication in a matrixed global environment. • Hold a B.E. or M.Tech in Electronics, Computer Science, or IT. • Possess 14+ years of experience, including 4+ years in management and 10 years hands‑on embedded development. • Expertise in embedded applications on bare‑metal, Linux, and RTOS platforms. • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for embedded systems. • Proficiency with communication protocols (CAN, TCP/IP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP) and optional SCADA, DNP3, IEC 61850. • Experience with model‑based development (MBD) and DevSecOps. • Excellent written and verbal communication, adept at multitasking in matrixed global environments.
