About the Role

The Shift Supervisor is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of a thermal generating station—including boiler, turbine‑generator, and auxiliary equipment—on a shift basis. Responsibilities include supervising and developing operating staff, coordinating with other shifts and departments, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and NERC/NPCC reliability standards, and actively managing safety performance and culture. • Ensure safe, efficient operation of boiler, turbine‑generator, and auxiliary systems each shift. • Supervise, coach, and develop operating staff while coordinating with other shifts and departments. • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations, ISO 14001 processes, and NERC/NPCC reliability standards. • Proactively manage safety performance, observe all occupational health and safety rules, and support the safety culture. • Adhere to Emera’s Alcohol and Drug Policy, including pre‑employment testing. • Participate in community engagement, mentoring, fundraising‑matching, and employee scholarship programs.

What You Bring

The role requires a valid 1st or 2nd Class Power Engineer licence, 8‑10 years of thermal plant experience (preferably with supervisory background), and strong leadership, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be self‑motivated, adaptable, and familiar with high‑pressure thermal generating stations, and must adhere to Emera’s alcohol‑and‑drug policy and occupational health and safety rules. • Hold a valid 1st or 2nd Class Power Engineer certification and 8‑10 years of thermal plant experience. • Demonstrate leadership, effective communication, computer proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills. • Be self‑motivated, adaptable to change, and familiar with high‑pressure thermal generating stations.
