About the Role

Johnson Controls invites candidates to join its team as a 1st Shift Brazer. In this role you will deliver and execute fit‑up, fabrication and brazing operations for internal and external customers, following corporate policies, plant procedures and Johnson Controls principles. Your work will support employee engagement, safety, productivity and compliance within a manufacturing environment. Daily duties include positioning header parts in jigs, preparing and operating brazing equipment, adjusting gas mixtures, and guiding the torch to create strong, uniform metal joints. You will inspect brazed joints for leaks, perform necessary repairs, and document findings. Additional tasks involve reading blueprints and AutoCAD drawings, maintaining accurate reports, conducting technical inspections, and promoting 5S and Kaizen initiatives across the facility. • Apply fit‑up, fabricate, and braze components according to Johnson Controls standards. • Set up and operate brazing equipment, adjust gas mixtures, and guide torch to create uniform joints. • Inspect brazed joints for leaks, perform repairs, and document results. • Read and interpret AutoCAD drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate production. • Maintain safety practices, conduct technical inspections, and support 5S and Kaizen initiatives. • Record detailed reports, manage work‑order sign‑offs, and participate in training programs.

What You Bring

The position requires successful completion of pre‑hire and post‑hire vertical downflow pipe brazing tests on stainless steel, copper and brass, as well as a minimum of three consecutive years of brazing experience. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, with brazing technical school certification preferred, and possess strong knowledge of hand tools, machinery, and metalworking equipment. Desired qualities include problem‑solving, time management, effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning and safety. Physical demands include occasional lifting of up to 50 lb, constant standing, frequent walking, bending, climbing and other motions, while working in noisy, dusty indoor and outdoor environments.
