About the Role

The Operations Supervisor – Hauling Operations supervises collection activities across commercial, residential, roll‑off (industrial), and container delivery and pick‑up lines within a geographically dispersed area. This role oversees drivers and helpers and collaborates with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives that drive functional excellence and achieve budget targets, while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, accounting, ethics, and other standards. Safety leadership is a core focus, requiring the supervisor to communicate safety goals, eliminate unsafe conditions on routes, and partner with sales and maintenance teams to address hazards for new customers and routes. The supervisor oversees accident‑prevention programs, promotes an active safety culture among employees, and ensures equipment remains compliant with safety standards. In the realm of customer experience, the supervisor provides service that meets or exceeds expectations, manages missed pickup goals, resolves unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes, and maintains timely communication with all stakeholders. Acting as a positive company representative, they interact with customers to address issues and foster loyalty. Efficiency responsibilities include setting productivity goals, managing labor hours and disposal expenses, leading drivers to exceed performance expectations, and designing or modifying routes to maximize density and reduce hours. The supervisor also supports maintenance and fleet quality initiatives and executes operational plans to meet or exceed the division’s budgeted goals. • Supervise hauling collection activities across commercial, residential, roll‑off, and container lines in a dispersed geography. • Lead drivers and helpers, coordinating with Operations and General Managers to meet functional and budget goals. • Drive safety initiatives: remove unsafe conditions, partner with sales and maintenance, oversee accident‑prevention programs, foster a safety culture. • Ensure superior customer experience by meeting pickup expectations, resolving service issues, and communicating effectively with stakeholders. • Optimize efficiency through productivity targets, labor and disposal cost control, route design, and fleet maintenance support. • Build a collaborative team environment, develop talent, and coach employees for career advancement.
