About the Role
The intern will assist with day-to-day supervised activities on an active construction project, gaining foundational knowledge in construction management, project financials, safety protocols, subcontractor relations, quality control, and overall project coordination. Where applicable, the assignment may count toward educational credits. Key responsibilities include supporting the project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting. The intern must follow site signage, supervisor instructions, and safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and provide regular progress updates while maintaining professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors. Participation in training, meetings, and orientation is also required. Additional tasks may involve assisting project engineers, superintendents, or managers with start-up activities, processing shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs, preparing contract-required information, estimating subcontractor change orders, attending site visits, drafting correspondence, communicating schedules, monitoring safety compliance, performing quantity take-offs, handling subcontractor proposals, and supporting project close-out. • Coordinate project meetings and track materials. • Manage files, control documents, and generate progress reports. • Follow site signage and supervisor directions while adhering to safety protocols and wearing PPE. • Build and maintain professional relationships with staff, clients, and subcontractors. • Attend training sessions, meetings, and orientation programs. • Assist Project Engineer, Superintendent, or Manager with project start-up activities. • Collect and review data for shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs. • Prepare and distribute contract-required information to relevant parties. • Estimate change orders from subcontractors. • Conduct site visits to observe and document field activities. • Draft and send correspondence to architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors. • Communicate job schedules and track subcontractor proposals. • Monitor contractor compliance with Turner’s safety program. • Perform quantity take-offs and studies using manual or computer-aided tools. • Support project close-out documentation and processes.

This role falls under the Construction job family and is classified as an Intern/Co-Op. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university program—such as Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management—with at least one year of completed coursework, and be at least 18 years old. Applicants should demonstrate a strong desire to work in construction management, leadership or community involvement, professional communication skills in English, and the ability to read technical documents. They must be proactive, curious, accountable, and capable of working independently, under supervision, and within a team, while possessing exceptional organizational attention to detail. The role requires physical abilities such as regularly sitting, using hands, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and lifting up to 10 lb regularly and up to 25 lb occasionally. The work environment includes both office settings with moderate noise and construction sites with exposure to moving equipment, heights, fumes, weather, and varying noise levels.
