About the Role
The opportunity offers leadership of centralized commercial resources and governance across the broader line of business, ensuring financial outcomes are maximised while meeting Downer’s and the client’s delivery objectives. In this role you will ensure commercial and risk compliance with Downer policies, advise general management on commercial and legislative matters, research complex information to devise business solutions, and collaborate with project teams to address financial impacts. You will also provide strategic direction on governance issues, analyse data for revenue and margin improvement, and guide the commercial team toward optimal outcomes. • Ensure commercial and risk compliance with Downer policies and governance. • Provide commercial and risk advice aligned with legislative requirements. • Research complex information and develop business solutions. • Collaborate with project teams to resolve financial impact issues. • Offer strategic direction on commercial and corporate governance matters. • Analyse data to identify revenue and margin improvement opportunities. • Lead centralized commercial resources across the line of business. • Negotiate contracts maintaining an acceptable risk profile. • Build trust and influence across clients, suppliers, and contractors. • Deliver commercial oversight on large construction/telecommunications projects. • Structured career paths across various utilities areas.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a tertiary or post‑graduate qualification in commercial or contract management (or a related field), has construction or telecommunications experience on major projects, and possesses proven commercial administration and negotiation skills within large organisations. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities are essential.
