About the Role
Key duties include locating and marking reference points, rigging and signaling crane lifts, aligning and assembling boiler frames, tanks, and vats, welding, installing valves and gauges, testing vessels for leaks, performing field repairs, fabricating components, and ensuring compliance with safety and project rules. • Locate and mark reference points on foundations using geometry tools. • Signal crane operator and attach rigging for component lifts. • Align and assemble boiler frames, tanks, and vats using plumb bobs, levels, and turnbuckles. • Position drums and headers, then bolt or weld supports to frames. • Align water tubes and expand ends to drums and headers with a tube expander. • Bolt or weld casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles and fabricated parts to frames. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning with tools and equipment. • Install manholes, handholds, valves, gauges, and feed‑water connections in drums. • Test assembled vessels by pressurizing with water or gas and checking for leaks. • Repair boilers or tanks by unbolting, flame‑cutting, straightening, and welding new sections. • Fasten and caulk vessel sections using pneumatic fasteners and caulking hammers. • Line fireboxes with refractory brick and blocks. • Fabricate parts such as stacks, uptakes, and chutes to fit installation premises. • Apply flame‑cutting and torch skills safely. • Observe and comply with all safety and project regulations. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select appropriate tools. • Compare sizes, shapes, and forms of lines, figures, and objects. • Visualize three‑dimensional objects from plans and drawings. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Follow instructions and established guidelines. • Operate under immediate supervision.

What You Bring
Journeyman position requires at least three years of documented field experience in the chosen craft, with the ability to read and interpret instructions, plan, and perform work activities independently. Applicants must work within precise accuracy limits, apply shop mathematics, select proper tools, visualize three‑dimensional objects from drawings, make decisions based on measurable criteria, and be comfortable working at heights. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, balancing, and other movements. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience, knowledge of common field concepts and procedures, the ability to follow instructions under immediate supervision, and reporting to a supervisor or manager. • Hammer, flame‑cut, file, and grind irregular edges for proper fit. • Bolt or arc‑weld structures and sections together. • High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience. • Knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
