About the Role
The Audio‑Visual Commissioning Engineer ensures seamless operation and optimal performance of the AV systems we design and install. Acting as a technical and advisory resource, the engineer manages all phases of the AV lifecycle—from site surveys and client programming meetings to design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The role evaluates design intent, identifies risks, and recommends solutions that affect system performance, project outcomes, and client operations, while collaborating closely with design, installation, and client teams. • Oversee, validate, and configure complex AV programming to meet design intent and client requirements. • Develop and lead commissioning strategies for large‑scale AV systems across various industries. • Create, edit, and optimize DSP files, focusing on AEC for videoconferencing and control integration. • Review project documentation, conduct QA testing, and recommend alternative technical approaches. • Provide technical support during installation and post‑installation, diagnosing and resolving system issues. • Prioritize and escalates issues based on operational impact to ensure client satisfaction. • Produce detailed system configuration documentation and contribute to commissioning standards. • Collaborate with design, installation, and operations teams to ensure seamless project transitions. • Advise clients on system functionality, gather feedback, and deliver training on operation and maintenance. • Remain current with emerging AV technologies and industry trends to propose innovative solutions. • Perform on‑site support, including punch walks, client meetings, and progress oversight.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in construction or engineering (preferred) with 3‑5 years of AV design/integration experience. • Proven experience commissioning and troubleshooting AV control systems, DSPs, displays, projectors, LED walls, and audio equipment. • Ability to independently evaluate technical issues and recommend solutions. • Proficiency with AV diagnostic tools and remote programming/debugging of control systems. • Knowledge of AV protocols (HDMI, HDBaseT, AVoIP, Dante, AES67) and control protocols (RS‑232/RS‑485, TCP, UDP). • Strong understanding of network deployment, multicast management, and large‑scale commercial AV systems. • Experience with multiple OEM platforms; certifications desired in Q‑Sys, Crestron, Biamp, Extron, AMX. • Familiarity with video‑conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex, Google) and telecommunications infrastructure. • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD; ability to learn new design software. • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills plus strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. • Field experience with AV integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting; programming experience beneficial. • Required certifications: AVIXA CTS; Q‑Sys Level 2; DSP certification (Biamp, QSC, BSS, Symetrix). Preferred: AVICA CTS‑D/CTS‑I, Dante Level 1‑3, control certifications (QSC, Extron, Crestron, AMX), Shure Integrated Systems.
