About the Role
The role oversees all phases of new school construction and modernization, ensuring projects stay on scope, schedule, and budget while collaborating with internal teams, external agencies, and stakeholders. • Plan and coordinate pre‑construction activities for new schools and modernization projects. • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and overall success of multiple school projects. • Resolve complex planning, design, and construction issues and disputes. • Supervise Assistant Facility Development Managers, Design Managers, and design professionals. • Report project budget, schedule, and issues to departmental and senior leadership. • Review project status and progress against planning and design schedules. • Coordinate with utility and government agencies to obtain timely approvals. • Assist with A/E contracts, bid planning, and fiscal management of projects. • Oversee cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control. • Align project activities with district branches, external partners, and site personnel. • Develop and recommend internal policies and procedures.

What You Bring
Candidates must possess extensive experience in project scoping, DSA procedures, LEED/CHS standards, CEQA compliance, public‑sector delivery methods, BIM utilization, and community engagement, coupled with strong written and verbal communication. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture is required, along with at least ten years of capital‑project leadership experience, including five years specific to educational or public‑works facilities. Preferred credentials include California architect registration or a Professional Engineer license, a Construction Manager (CCM) certification, and LEED Professional accreditation. • Experience in scoping and planning new construction or modernization projects. • Familiarity with DSA processes and LEED/CHPS standards. • Knowledge of CEQA, agency approvals, and coordination with city/county agencies. • Understanding of public project delivery and procurement methods. • Strong community engagement and communication skills. • Proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM). • Ability to manage team performance, delegate, and provide feedback. • Creative problem‑solving and ability to work under compressed timeframes. • Excellent oral and written communication and active listening. • BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture. • Ten+ years managing planning, design, construction, and coordination of capital projects. • Five+ years experience in educational facility or public‑works construction. • Valid California architect registration or Professional Engineer license. • Construction Manager (CCM) certification. • LEED Professional Accreditation.
