About the Role

The engineer will help expand the firm’s RIDM practices for dam and levee safety while serving as Project Manager on assessment and rehabilitation initiatives. Acting as a senior advisor, they will deliver technical direction, quality oversight, and geotechnical engineering support for dams, levees, and related water resources projects. They will also strengthen Freese and Nichols’ partnership with US Army Corps of Engineers dam safety programs and supervise multidisciplinary staff to ensure consistent, high‑quality deliverables. Additionally, they will evaluate design decisions against scope, schedule, and budget constraints and stay current with regulations and emerging technologies. • Expand and implement RIDM practices for dam and levee safety. • Manage dam assessment and rehabilitation projects as Project Manager. • Provide senior technical direction and quality oversight on assessments and designs. • Oversee geotechnical engineering for dams, levees, and water‑resources projects. • Strengthen support for USACE dam safety programs and become a preferred provider. • Supervise engineers, technicians, designers, and drafters to ensure consistency and quality. • Evaluate design decisions for impact on scope, schedule, and budget. • Remain current with regulations and emerging technologies; participate in contract administration.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and be a licensed Professional Engineer. At least eight years of experience making independent engineering decisions, coupled with familiarity with advanced techniques and the ability to modify engineering theories, is required. Preferred qualifications include experience leading complex studies, managing large multi‑disciplinary projects, extensive client and regulator interaction, active continuing education, and a record of technical publications. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license. • Possess 8+ years of experience making independent engineering decisions. • Demonstrated ability to lead complex studies and large multi‑disciplinary projects. • Extensive experience engaging clients, staff, and regulatory agencies. • Active involvement in continuing education and technical publication record.
