About the Role

In this role you will lead an extraordinary maintenance team and drive innovative living experiences across our properties. You will set new quality standards, ensure luxury‑level living for residents, and shape the future of apartment management. You will manage maintenance and preventive‑maintenance operations for assigned communities, overseeing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, major appliances, and amenities. Responsibilities include conducting property visits, collaborating with on‑site supervisors to improve performance, and maintaining oversight of all maintenance activities in line with AvalonBay standards and regulations.

What You Bring

• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance, where applicable. • 3–5 years of apartment maintenance experience with strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware, masonry, painting, water features, fitness equipment, and waste management. • Understanding of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, sprinklers, and steam systems. • Comprehensive knowledge of emergency system shutoffs and operation sequences. • Minimum 2 years of people management experience, including supervising, coaching, and performance improvement. • EPA Type I or II certification, where applicable. • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, where applicable. • Ability to be on‑call and respond within 1 hour of dispatch. • Strong communication skills with associates, residents, and vendors to maintain customer service standards. • Consistent, accurate reporting of time worked and assigned schedules.
