About the Role

The role involves organizing estimate preparation, ensuring reliable estimates, managing trade partner strategies, conducting quantity surveys, meeting margin goals, providing cost modeling, supervising self‑performed scopes, and fostering relationships across operations, design, and owners. • Organize, plan, and schedule estimate preparation, leading meetings and assigning work. • Ensure complete, reliable estimates and adjust assignments as needed. • Develop trade partner strategy, issue invitations to bid, and obtain BIM documents. • Conduct full quantity surveys, assess site logistics, and incorporate cost history into pricing. • Align estimates with company margin goals, create margin plans, and present bids to owners. • Provide cost modeling, value analysis, and target‑value delivery support. • Supervise preparation of self‑performed work scopes with accurate pricing. • Build and maintain relationships with operations, design partners, trade partners, and owners. • Participate in group estimating meetings and mentor less‑experienced estimators.

What You Bring

Mortenson seeks a MEP Estimator III to lead estimating efforts, gather and compile data, and support large projects. Candidates must have an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least six years of construction experience, strong multitasking and leadership abilities, proficiency with BIM and cost‑history software, and the ability to travel up to 20%. • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. • Minimum six years of construction industry experience. • Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Proficiency with building estimating techniques, software, and BIM for quantifying work. • Experience leading estimator teams on large projects and using cost‑history software. • Capability to produce self‑performed estimates and analyze past project data. • Strong customer service, active listening, and communication skills. • Ability to prepare deliverables, present estimates, and travel up to 20%. • Knowledge of construction law, business practices, and EEO regulations. • Understanding of MEPT system quantity surveys, productivity standards, labor rates, and equipment coordination.
