About the Role

The Application Engineer supports the Low Voltage Assemblies (LVA) organization by developing departmental standards for Bidman and circuit design, contributing to automation requirements with the Design Automation team, and communicating new technical information to Customer Order Engineers (COEs) and supervisors. This role provides advanced applications support, including pre‑ and post‑order technical assistance, field‑sales guidance, and support for Portland and EPC (Canada) projects. It also serves as a development pathway to a full Application Engineer position, offering structured mentorship from a senior engineer. Key responsibilities include creating and refining technical standards, defining automation scope, validating automation outputs, and continuously enhancing automated design tools. The engineer supports LVA design activities, offers troubleshooting and design guidance for complex applications, advises field sales on product knowledge, and delivers advanced technical support to customers and internal stakeholders. Additional duties involve supporting warranty investigations, recommending corrective actions, guiding supply‑chain device substitutions, and maintaining technical documentation such as white papers and application notes. • Develop and recommend departmental standards for Bidman and circuit design to ensure consistency and efficiency. • Collaborate with the Design Automation team to define automation scope, validate outputs, and enhance automated design tools. • Communicate new technical information to Customer Order Engineers (COEs) and supervisors. • Provide advanced pre‑ and post‑order technical support and troubleshooting for complex LVA applications. • Advise field sales on LVA applications, offering product expertise for system design proposals. • Support warranty investigations by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. • Guide supply chain on device substitutions to maintain design compatibility and technical requirements. • Mentor junior engineers while receiving structured coaching from a senior Application Engineer. • Maintain technical documentation, including white papers and application notes. • Stay current on applicable codes, standards, and power distribution/control systems.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (a master’s is preferred) and have at least five years of electrical switchgear experience plus three years in customer order engineering. Eligibility requires the ability to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship, residence within 50 miles of Arden, NC (active‑duty military exempt), and familiarity with power distribution, industrial and commercial controls, and applicable codes and standards. The role also expects cross‑functional collaboration, the ability to train new engineers, and ongoing mentorship to develop technical capability and applications expertise. • Hold a bachelor’s (or master’s) degree in engineering with 5+ years of electrical switchgear experience. • Require 3+ years of COE experience and ability to work in the United States without sponsorship. • Must reside within 50 miles of Arden, NC (military candidates exempt).
