About the Role
The Operations Manager for University of North Dakota Housing will oversee daily housing operations to ensure efficient, high-quality services that meet the needs of students, staff, and the university community. This role includes managing housing facilities, supervising staff, coordinating maintenance and logistics, and ensuring compliance with university policies, company policies, and safety standards. Leadership and Management responsibilities involve managing housing operations across residence halls, apartments, and other campus housing facilities, supervising and supporting housing staff including maintenance and administrative personnel, and developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficiency and compliance. Facility Management duties require coordination with contractors, vendors, and campus services for facility projects and improvements, ensuring that all work aligns with the university’s standards and timelines. Budget and Resource Management includes managing budgets for housing operations, forecasting expenses, tracking costs, and optimizing resource allocation to meet operational needs while reducing expenses. Compliance and Safety responsibilities ensure adherence to university policies, company policies, local regulations, and safety standards, along with developing emergency preparedness plans and coordinating safety drills. Data and Reporting tasks involve creating and maintaining a CMMS database with equipment history, generating work orders, managing budget projection data, tracking inventory, handling purchasing, composing correspondence and reports, assisting with contract deliverable requirements, tracking operational metrics, preparing performance and budget reports, and providing updates to senior leadership as well as research, finance, contract management, and administrative support to the O&M team. What You Bring
The position prefers a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Hospitality, or a related field, and requires a minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in housing, facilities management, or higher education, along with proven leadership experience managing teams and projects. Key skills and competencies include strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with housing management software, and knowledge of safety regulations, budgeting principles, and facilities management. • Minimum 3–5 years of operations management experience, preferably in housing or higher education. • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred. • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and housing management software. • Knowledge of safety regulations, budgeting principles, and facilities management.
