About the Role

The Sales Engineer serves as a technical expert and trusted advisor, supporting the Vice President in driving sales growth across Building Management Systems, Building Automation Systems, lighting control, solar, and energy efficiency projects. This role bridges the gap between technical solutions and customer needs by providing in‑depth product knowledge, customized system design support, and persuasive sales presentations. The Engineer works closely with customers, internal sales teams, project managers, and operations staff to ensure solutions meet performance, budget, and sustainability goals. The Sales Engineer collaborates with sales, engineering, and project delivery teams to design detailed system solutions, develop proposals, and ensure smooth handoffs from sales to implementation. They provide technical support throughout the sales cycle, conduct site visits and surveys to validate designs, and stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends. Additionally, the role contributes to research and development efforts to upgrade offerings and improve efficiency, scalability, serviceability, and profitability. • Collaborate with sales teams to identify client needs and recommend appropriate BMS, BAS, lighting control, solar, and energy solutions. • Develop detailed system designs, schematics, and equipment selections in coordination with engineering and operations teams. • Create bills of material, pricing, control intent, scopes of work, and customer-facing proposal documents. • Work with project delivery and customer support teams to ensure smooth handoffs from sales to implementation. • Provide technical support during the sales cycle, answering client questions and addressing technical concerns. • Prepare and deliver compelling technical presentations and proposals tailored to client requirements. • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and manufacturer offerings related to BMS, BAS, lighting control, solar, and energy efficiency. • Engage in R&D efforts to develop new solutions, upgrade existing offerings, and improve efficiency, scalability, serviceability, and profitability. • Perform site visits and surveys to gather technical data and validate design feasibility.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field, and brings at least six years of technical sales or sales engineering experience in BMS, BAS, lighting control, solar, or energy efficiency sectors. They have a strong understanding of control systems, HVAC integration, lighting technologies, and renewable energy, are proficient in reading schematics, and excel at communicating complex concepts to non‑technical audiences. Proficiency with MS Office, design tools such as AutoCAD or Revit, strong organizational skills, and willingness to travel are also essential. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field. • Minimum 6 years experience in technical sales or sales engineering, preferably in BMS, BAS, lighting control, solar, or energy efficiency. • Strong understanding of control systems, HVAC integration, lighting control technologies, and renewable energy systems. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications. • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. • Experience with energy modeling, ROI analysis, and sustainability metrics (a plus). • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or system design tools preferred. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously. • Willingness to travel to client sites, trade shows, and training sessions as required.
