About the Role
The Fleet Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance of a fleet of up to 60 diesel and alternative‑fuel vehicles across one or more locations, as well as equipment at post‑collection facilities and container shops. This role provides direct or indirect guidance to technicians, ensuring all repairs and maintenance meet Republic Services’ safety standards and comply with federal and state regulations. Key responsibilities include planning and scheduling repair work, managing overtime, monitoring shop performance, and leading technicians and shift supervisors through daily huddles, fleet walks, coaching, and performance evaluations. The manager maintains a preventive maintenance program, controls costs related to personnel, inventory, and outsourcing, and manages external repair facilities to ensure compliance and quality. • Lead and direct technicians and shift supervisors to ensure safe, efficient maintenance of vehicles and equipment. • Plan and schedule repair work, manage overtime, and monitor shop performance to improve productivity. • Oversee preventive maintenance programs, track equipment trends, and control costs for personnel, inventory, and outsourcing. • Manage external repair facilities ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. • Conduct quality‑control inspections and maintain accurate records in Dossier Maintenance Software. • Apply advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, and welding systems for repairs. • Handle administrative duties including payroll, budgeting, goal setting, and employee record maintenance.

What You Bring
The position requires at least three years of supervisory experience in transportation maintenance, a high school diploma or GED, and ASE certifications (T2 Diesel Engine, T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension and Steering). Candidates must demonstrate strong computer skills, problem‑solving, communication, analytical, and financial management abilities, along with knowledge of OSHA safety practices. • Minimum 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience in transportation with OSHA safety knowledge. • ASE certifications: T2 Diesel Engine, T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension and Steering. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications. • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and customer‑service skills. • Analytical and organizational abilities for resource planning and financial management. • High school diploma or GED required.
