About the Role
The engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, testing and troubleshooting SCADA solutions in line with customer specifications and international standards such as IEEE, IEC and ANSI. The role includes creating work plans and cost estimates, conducting risk and opportunity assessments, and ensuring compliance with quality processes and regulatory guidelines. Technical leadership is expected, including coaching colleagues, representing the function on standardisation committees, and developing best‑practice processes and tools. The engineer must uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity while collaborating with stakeholders and working both independently and as part of a team. • Design, engineer and test SCADA systems for substation automation according to customer specs and IEC/IEEE standards. • Develop work plans, cost estimates and manage delivery schedules to meet program timelines. • Perform risk and opportunity assessments during engineering phases and report issues with mitigation recommendations. • Lead technical knowledge sharing, coach team members and represent the function on standardisation committees. • Create and apply standard processes and tools to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders while upholding safety and integrity values. • Apply expertise in substation automation protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑101/103/104, LON, Modbus) and SCADA software (IET, Micro SCADA, PCM, RTU). • Utilize cybersecurity concepts, SCIL, VB Scripts, PLC and structured‑text programming for testing and validation.

What You Bring
Candidates should hold a B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation & Control or Electrical Engineering and have 2–6 years of experience with substation automation, protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑101/103/104, LON, Modbus, etc.), SCADA software (IET, Micro SCADA, PCM, RTU) and cybersecurity concepts. Proficiency with SCIL, VB Scripts, PLC programming and protocol simulators is also required. • Hold a B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation & Control or Electrical Engineering with 2–6 years of relevant experience.
