About the Role
The Pipefitter Sprinkler Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and testing all types of automatic sprinkler systems and associated equipment, including air compressors, backflow devices, and valves. Duties include installing, modifying, and repairing sprinkler systems per NFPA 13, inspecting and testing water‑based fire protection systems per NFPA 25, servicing stationary fire pumps per NFPA 20, and maintaining foam‑water systems per NFPA 16A, with cross‑training on basic fire alarm control panel operation. This position is onsite with a pay rate of $39.02 per hour. • Perform routine maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of wet and dry sprinkler systems and related components. • Maintain and repair clappers, valves, water gongs, pipe structures, retard chambers, and other trim parts. • Conduct fire suppression duties to keep buildings and structures in good repair. • Develop NFPA 72 and related reports. • Assist with installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of suppression systems per manufacturer specs and NFPA standards; cross‑train with fire alarm team as needed. • Visually inspect fire suppression equipment and replace defective components. • Check system pressure gauges and recharge or replace containers. • Plan and layout work from blueprints, drawings, models, and instructions. • Coordinate material and parts requisitions and submit outage requests, isolating systems for repairs. • Respond to emergency site maintenance and operate vehicles/equipment safely. • Support other department staff and adhere to safety policies and standard operating procedures.

What You Bring
• Minimum 2 years experience in fire sprinkler and suppression maintenance. • Obtain NICET I certification in fire sprinkler systems (inspection/testing) within 12 months of hire. • Obtain NICET II certification within 18 months of hire. • Ability to test, inspect, maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair water, chemical, pre‑action/dry fire suppression systems with minimal supervision. • Experience with water and chemical (Halon) suppression systems and kitchen hood fire suppression systems. • Experience generating NFPA or similar reports and extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards. • Strong professional communication and ability to work with diverse people. • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain required intelligence community security clearance. • Pass pre‑hire background and drug screening; valid driver’s license with acceptable record. • Ability to lift 50 lb and team‑lift 75 lb.
