About the Role
The Field Buyer is a critical role responsible for ensuring that all onsite purchasing and receiving activities are performed in accordance with company policies. In this position, the employee manages the field requisition process, obtains competitive quotes, oversees receiving and inventory control, and maintains vendor accounts. Coordination with site management ensures proper receiving and staging areas, while material storage follows vendor requirements. The buyer also reconciles credit‑card statements, monitors bulk material inventory levels, and acts as the primary liaison between corporate offices and the construction site. • Manage field requisition process. • Obtain competitive quotes for material purchases. • Oversee field receiving and inventory control. • Ensure timely completion of POIRs. • Verify compliance with Wanzek policies for all requisitions. • Set up and maintain local vendor accounts with required documentation. • Coordinate site receiving/staging areas with management. • Ensure proper storage of materials per vendor requirements. • Reconcile weekly Concur credit card statements with supporting documents. • Work with Laydown Yard Foreman and Construction Managers to maintain inventory levels. • Procure warehouse/site inventory. • Serve as primary liaison between corporate office and onsite management. • Track and coordinate pre‑turnover maintenance of permanent plant equipment. • Liaise with Expeditor for accurate delivery dates. • Provide backup support for Materials Receiver.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least two years of construction experience and be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, internet and scheduling software. They are expected to uphold safety standards, read and interpret blueprints and contracts, communicate effectively with project stakeholders, and possess knowledge of rigging, off‑loading, and practical problem‑solving. • Minimum two years construction experience. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and scheduling software. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contracts, and regulations. • Strong communication skills with project managers, superintendents, clients, and the public. • Knowledge of rigging and off‑loading materials. • Problem‑solving skills for practical issues. • Ability to follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.

Compensation ranges from $27.56 to $29.00 hourly, with performance‑based reviews and merit increases.
