About the Role
Based in vibrant Auckland, the Facilities Manager will manage and deliver high‑quality facilities maintenance across diverse property types and jurisdictions, with frequent travel to MFAT locations across the Pacific. In this pivotal position you will own the Pacific portfolio, collaborate closely with the Downer team and Service Delivery Partners, and ensure maintenance is performed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards while building strong relationships with client representatives and stakeholders. The role encompasses strategic oversight of maintenance operations, safety and security compliance, stakeholder engagement, performance monitoring, governance, capability building, and support for business growth and continuous improvement. Downer plans, creates and sustains essential public services across Australia and New Zealand, managing critical infrastructure such as hospitals, data centres and defence partnerships. • Foster a Zero Harm culture and ensure contract security compliance. • Engage positively with customers and manage subcontractor relationships for collaborative outcomes. • Oversee facilities maintenance service delivery, tracking KPIs, resource utilization and financial performance. • Lead governance and service delivery across diverse work types, technologies and customers. • Develop local trade capabilities in the Pacific to support social outcomes and improve efficiency. • Provide after‑hours on‑call support and champion business development and continuous improvement initiatives. • Travel frequently to MFAT locations in the Pacific, often for one to two weeks at a time.

What You Bring
Candidates should possess a Facilities Management qualification or equivalent experience, with 3‑5 years in technical, construction, facilities or asset management roles. Proven experience in delivering quality maintenance on schedule, minimizing rework, and managing operational and financial aspects is essential; Pacific experience, trade‑capability development and French language skills are advantageous. Managerial courage, initiative and a results‑driven mindset are required, as well as the ability to obtain National Security and Ministry of Justice clearances. The position is based in Auckland and requires frequent travel to MFAT sites in the Pacific, often for one to two weeks at a time, multiple times per year.
