About the Role
Key duties include operating plant equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, front‑end loaders and other fixed‑plant machinery. The operator will carry out daily maintenance checks, monitor oil levels, grease components and keep all equipment clean and well‑organized. Additional site responsibilities, including assisting with fixed‑plant maintenance, may also be required. • Operate excavators, dump trucks, front‑end loaders and other fixed‑plant equipment. • Conduct daily equipment inspections, checking oil levels and greasing components. • Maintain machinery cleanliness and organization, and support site maintenance tasks. • Follow strict pre‑start, maintenance and health‑safety procedures.

What You Bring
Heidelberg Materials offers a full‑time Quarry Operator position at the Canberra Quarry in Williamsdale, about 30 minutes south of Canberra. The role reports to the Quarry Manager and runs from 6 am Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend work as needed. Prior experience with loaders, dump trucks or excavators is helpful but not required, as comprehensive training will be provided. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, environment and quality standards and hold a current valid Australian open or provisional driver’s licence. They should be able to work both collaboratively and autonomously, follow strict pre‑start and maintenance procedures, and possess clear communication skills and a professional "can‑do" attitude. A pre‑employment medical, drug and alcohol test, as well as compliance with machine weight limits, are mandatory. • Hold a valid Australian open or provisional driver’s licence. • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. • Pass pre‑employment medical, drug and alcohol testing.
