About the Role
The Lead I&E Technician directs a crew of instrumentation and electrical technicians in the safe, quality‑focused completion of maintenance work at a petrochemical processing plant. The role includes overseeing, coordinating, and executing craft‑specific labor while ensuring all tasks meet industry standards. Key responsibilities include performing skilled instrumentation and electrical activities—disassembly, repair, testing, calibration, and installation of transmitters, control valves, motor control circuits, VFDs, and tubing systems—as well as providing support services like fire‑watch, hole‑watch, material delivery, and housekeeping. • Lead crew in safe, efficient instrumentation and electrical maintenance at petrochemical plant. • Perform disassembly, repair, testing, calibration, and installation of pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters; control valves; motor control circuits; VFDs; and tubing/piping systems. • Provide support services: firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting, delivery, and housekeeping. • Complete safety‑sensitive training for hot work, confined space entry, and fresh‑air operations. • Conduct pre‑task hazard assessments and adhere to safety, quality, and efficiency standards. • Participate in site programs: Safe Catch/Quality Catch/Stop Work Authority, Continuous Improvement (SMART Focus), and customer initiatives. • Read and interpret permits, JSAs, technical manuals, blueprints, P&ID, schematics, and other engineering drawings. • Lead and mentor helpers, apprentices, and Journeymen II; coordinate material ordering.

What You Bring
Candidates must meet all physical requirements, possess reliable transportation, and be willing to work up to seven days per week, including overtime and call‑outs. They must operate under the direction of a skilled foreman and complete required safety‑sensitive training such as hot‑work, confined‑space, and fresh‑air procedures. Applicants need 5–10 years of lead I&E experience, NCCER Performance Verified certification (or equivalent), a minimum score of 81 % on the Zachry Craft Assessment, and a valid TWIC card, driver’s license, and acceptable MVR. They must demonstrate strong problem‑solving abilities, electrical theory knowledge, effective communication, and the ability to read technical manuals, drawings, and permits. The position demands extensive physical activity: standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, working at heights and in confined spaces, and performing up to 12‑hour shifts in varied weather while wearing required PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, and steel‑toe boots. Pre‑employment requirements include drug screening, physicals, pulmonary and audiogram tests, and completion of numerous safety orientation courses (e.g., Gulf Coast Safety Council, fire‑watch, confined‑space, lock‑tag‑try). Selected candidates must also complete required forms and NFPA 70E training during the onboarding phase. • Work up to 7 days/week, including overtime and call‑outs; reliable transportation required. • Hold NCCER Performance Verified Instrumentation/Electrical certification or equivalent. • Achieve at least 81 % on Zachry Craft Assessment test. • Possess 5–10 years experience as Lead I&E Technician. • Maintain valid TWIC card, driver’s license, and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. • Demonstrate problem‑solving, electrical theory knowledge, computing, literacy, numeracy, and manual dexterity. • Physical demands: stand, walk, bend, squat, lift ≤50 lb, work at heights, confined spaces, outdoors up to 12 hr, wear full PPE. • Complete pre‑employment medicals: drug screen, physical, pulmonary function, audiogram, respiratory fit test (Scott AV 3000/2000, 3M 6000). • Finish required safety trainings (e.g., Gulf Coast Safety Council, fire‑watch, confined‑space, lock‑tag‑try, etc.) and NFPA 70E. • Successfully complete 90‑day probation and maintain bi‑annual evaluation scores ≥3.0.
