About the Role

The Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering the post‑collection site and collects the appropriate usage fees from customers. This role ensures accurate billing and supports efficient site operations. Key duties include determining the content of incoming waste to generate correct invoices, accepting or rejecting loads based on material type and suggesting alternatives for special waste. The attendant receives payments, issues receipts, balances daily cash receipts and deposits them securely. Using truck scales and computer systems, they document total waste volume, notify operations of special loads, complete required paperwork, answer telephone inquiries, and keep the work area clean. Additional tasks are performed as assigned. • Determine waste content to generate accurate customer invoices. • Accept or reject loads and suggest alternatives for special waste. • Collect payments, provide receipts, and balance daily cash receipts. • Document waste using truck scales and computer systems. • Notify operations of special loads and complete required paperwork. • Answer telephone calls and provide general information. • Maintain cleanliness of the work area. • Deposit balanced receipts into the safe depository.
