About the Role
• Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency • Prepare substrate with cementitious or finish product and set forms to standards (chipping, bushing, grinding) • Finish concrete using power trowel or abrasive stone and ensure proper elevation • Remove rough or defective spots with power grinder or chisel and hammer • Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound • Mold expansion joints and edges • Grind, chip, or blast to prepare surface for materials or as a finish • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary • Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Cement Mason Journeyman who will smooth and finish poured concrete surfaces such as floors, walls, sidewalks, and curbs using hand or power tools. The role involves preparing substrates, shaping and leveling fresh concrete, and applying final finishes to meet specified textures. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, have at least two years of related experience, and have passed the Apprentice Aptitude Test. The position requires the ability to read safety and operational documents, perform basic math, and demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and customer‑service skills. • High school diploma or GED • Minimum two years related experience • Passed Apprentice Aptitude Test • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operation manuals, and procedure documents; basic math skills • Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service, detail orientation, active listening, and effective communication • Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs (over 50 lbs with assistance or equipment) • No visa sponsorship; must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. • Job postings typically open a minimum of 5 days and average 44 days
