Electrician (Authorised Person)

About the Role

• Serve as Authorised Person for designated facilities, managing electrical isolation, switching, and permit‑to‑work procedures. • Perform switching operations on complex low‑voltage systems safely and in accordance with regulations. • Issue electrical permits and supervise work performed by competent persons. • Install, maintain, and repair LV switchgear, distribution boards, and protection systems. • Conduct testing and inspection programmes including PAT, fixed‑wire, and emergency lighting tests. • Maintain electrical plant rooms, substations, and distribution networks across commercial properties. • Respond to electrical emergencies and power outages, implementing safe restoration procedures. • Liaise with Distribution Network Operators and utility companies on supply issues and planned maintenance. • Ensure compliance with BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and CDM regulations. • Maintain detailed electrical records, test certificates, and statutory compliance documentation. • Mentor junior electrical staff and supervise contractors working on electrical systems. • Support energy‑monitoring initiatives and power‑quality assessments. • Participate in preventive maintenance programmes and emergency response procedures.

What You Bring

JLL is seeking a qualified Electrician with Authorised Person (AP) status to join our facilities management team. This role requires an experienced electrical professional who can take responsibility for complex low voltage electrical systems, switching operations, and ensuring electrical safety compliance across our commercial property portfolio. • Hold City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent) and current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification. • possess Authorised Person (Electrical) certification with proven LV switching (up to 100 V) experience. • Minimum five years’ experience in commercial/industrial electrical maintenance. • Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and permit‑to‑work systems. • Experience with complex LV electrical systems, switchgear, emergency generators, and UPS equipment. • Proficient with electrical testing equipment such as insulation testers, earth‑loop impedance testers, and thermal imaging cameras. • Knowledge of building management systems, power‑quality analysis, harmonic measurement, and electrical CAD/asset management databases. • Familiarity with fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and life‑safety systems.
